First Chase of 2010 – April 5th

Initally set out from home midday with a stop to check data at the Waukee rest area on I-80, travelled through one storm between Dexter and Stuart but encountered only rain. Floated between Dexter and Stuart before following some advice and traveling west to US 71 and then south to Clarinda. Upon further review decided to float south into northern Missouri and see if anything fired there before following the storms back north. Unfortunately very little happened beyond rain & lightning by late evening so I headed back north on 71 to I-80. Drove through very heavy precip from a severe warned storm east of Adair but I don’t believe I found any hail. The rest of the trip home remained uneventful. I left the Interstate at DeSoto and traveled the rest of the way home via US 169, Iowa 141, and Iowa 210.
