Equipment Upgrades/Updates
With the small increase in my cash pool that occurs this time of year I was able to purchase some equipment upgrades to prepare for 2011. First off I purchased a new webcam as the one I had was rather old and was reaching the limit of its usefulness, especially as it was incompatible with any version of Windows newer than Windows XP. Secondly, I purchased a GPS puck for use with MapPoint & SpotterNetwork. On some recommendations from the regulars over at SpotterChat I picked up a GlobalSat BU-353 GPS puck which has worked flawlessly. I also picked up one not so chasing related item, a new MAG-LITE flashlight. With the start of October upon us that pretty much brings us to the end of the severe weather possibilities in Iowa for 2010 (although there has been the rare exception). As a matter of fact, as I write this there are Freeze Warnings posted for parts of the state.
