Recent Weather & Burn Bans

Unfortunately I was not able to chase the events over this past weekend as I was attending a conference in Seattle, Washington and did not return to Iowa until Sunday evening after the storms had moved off into Illinois and Wisconsin.

Due to the relatively dry weather and breezy conditions recently bans on open burning have been issued in several Iowa counties by order of the State Fire Marshal. A ban for Boone County was issued on April 5th at 10 AM, a ban for Story County was issued on April 4th at 5 PM, and a ban for Polk County was issued on April 12th at 11 AM. All three counties remain under burn bans until further notice. If I should receive an update from the State Fire Marshal’s office I will post it.

A list of burn bans in effect may be found on the Iowa Department of Public Safety – State Fire Marshal Division’s website here. [www.dps.state.ia.us]
